Frequently Asked Questions
At Heritage Lawn & Landscape Care, we understand that maintaining your property comes with questions.
This section highlights what homeowners and businesses in Central PA ask us most—covering everything from lawn care and tree services to seasonal guidance and billing.
General Services
We provide lawn, tree, and landscape services throughout York, Adams, Cumberland, and surrounding Central PA counties. At this time, lawn care and tree care treatment services are not offered in Maryland.
We employ 8 certified arborists and 3 Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturalists, offering unmatched expertise and nearly 25 years of experience caring for Central PA properties.
Lawn Care
The ideal time for seeding and aeration is August 15–October 15, when soil and weather conditions support strong root growth. Second best time period is in early Spring (March 15–May 15).
Yes. Heritage offers organic-based fertilization programs that improve soil health and promote safe, sustainable lawn growth.
In most cases, rolling is not recommended, as it can compact the soil and weaken turf. Aeration is a better option for improving lawn health by reducing compaction.
Our service plans combine fertilization, weed control, insect and grub management, and soil health monitoring into a single program, tailored to your property’s needs.
Grubs typically feed on grass roots in late summer and early fall (August–October). Heritage’s grub-control treatments stop damage before it spreads.
Signs include brown patches that peel up like carpet and increased activity from skunks, birds, or moles digging for grubs.
Issues like red thread, brown patch, dollar spot, and rust can damage lawns during warm, humid conditions. Heritage offers proactive treatments to protect your turf.
Tree Care
There is an old addage that says, “the best time to prune trees is when your saw is sharp.” This is largely true with only a few exceptions.
Yes. We offer targeted treatments and monitoring for invasive pests such as emerald ash borer, spotted lantern fly, mites, and borers, along with diseases like beech leaf disease.
Yes. Our certified arborists respond to storm damage and urgent removals to restore safety to your property quickly.
Yes. These invasive insects feed on trees, leaving behind sticky residue and stressing plants. Heritage provides monitoring and treatments to reduce their impact.
Common threats include spider mites, scale insects, and leaf-eating beetles and caterpillars. Our certified arborists can identify and treat infestations before they cause lasting harm.
Beech leaf disease is a serious condition affecting beech trees, causing leaf damage and decline. Early intervention is key to protecting valuable trees.
Landscaping & Hardscaping
Yes. Our hardscaping services include patios, walkways, retaining walls, and outdoor living features built for both beauty and durability.
The best time is spring through fall, when the ground isn’t frozen. This allows for proper installation and immediate use of your new space.
Yes. We offer spring prep and fall cleanups, including leaf removal, mulching, and debris clearing.
